Safety event highlights close calls in work zones

As part of National Work Zone Awareness Week, the Kansas Department of Transportation will be hosting a work zone safety event at the Area Four Office in Topeka.

WHO:            KDOT employees Ted Coleman from Wichita and Kade Cooper from Belleville have both been in close calls in work zones as well KTA employee Kayne Kraus; KHP Superintendent Col. Herman Jones and KDOT State Transportation Engineer Burt Morey will also speak. Numerous law enforcement and emergency responders will attend and set up a vehicle display.

WHAT:          Speakers will share personal work zone experiences, showing the need for safety in construction and maintenance zones.

WHEN:       1:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 11.

WHERE:       In the truck bay area at the KDOT Area Four Office, located northwest of the I-70/Gage Boulevard interchange in Topeka.
