Judd WeilOctober 1, 2021

The Ford County Historical Society announced they will be conducting Historical Cemetery Tours on October 16, 17, 23, and 24.

There will be three tour groups on each date at 3 p.m., 4 p.m., 5 p.m. Participants will depart from the Ford County Legacy Center located at 310 Gunsmoke Street, via the DC Trolley to Maple Grove Cemetery for a 45-minute walking tour.

“This is not a ghost tour but rather will focus on telling the story of ten of Dodge City’s founding families,” said the Ford County Historical Society in a press release.  “The group will visit their final resting places and honor their memory with the telling of their story.”

Tour groups are limited to 20 people and as this is a walking tour, participants will need to be able walk a distance and may encounter uneven ground.

Tickets are available at the Visitors Information Center at 400 W. Wyatt Earp Blvd and are $20 each, cash only.

Tickets include refreshments at the Legacy Center before and after each tour and a souvenir booklet

with tour information.

The Historic Cemetery Tours are sponsored by Swaim Funeral Home, Flowers by Irene, Ziegler

Funeral Chapel, and the Dodge City Convention and Visitors Bureau.
