David Mickey Evans, the writer, director and narrator of cult movie, “The Sandlot,” will be in Liberal, Kans. for a special presentation on June 26.

“The Sandlot Comes to Liberal!” will take place at Light Park and the event will feature a question and answer session with Evans, among other activities such as a free showing for the movie.

Released in 1993, “The Sandlot,” follows intelligent fifth-grader Scott Smalls as he makes friends with a group of adolescent baseball players, despite his own lack of athletic ability, during the summer of 1962 after moving to suburban Los Angeles, California with his mother and step-father.

Other events include a free autograph signing with Evans and the Liberal Bee Jays, and a free-to-enter “Squints Look-a-Like” contest, based off of main cast member Michael “Squints” Palledorous.

Giveaways include 2500 free Glossy posters, free popcorn from the Boy Scouts and free bottled water from the LACF.

The presentation with David Mickey Evans will start at 7 p.m.
