A 23-year-old Dodge City man claiming to be a police officer in order to pick up a 17-year-old male while groping himself, was cited and released on misdemeanor charges on May 21.

According to Dodge City Police Department, at around 7:15 a.m., the 17-year-old male was walking to school when he was approached by the adult male driver in a white, four-door passenger car.

The driver presented himself as a police officer and asked the teenager if he wanted a ride.

During the interaction the driver’s genitalia was exposed and he was touching himself.

The suspect drove off when the teenager declined.

The teenager reported the incident right away and gave his description of the subject as a Hispanic male in his 20s with a mustache.

Later that morning, DCPD reached out to the public via their Facebook page with pictures of the vehicle for help in finding the suspect.

In the afternoon Police Chief Drew Francis confirmed that they had made contact with the subject.

“The Dodge City male was located at his residence and agreed to interview with officers,” said Deputy Chief Jerad Goertzen. “He was cited and released for the charges of Lewd and Lascivious Behavior and False Impersonation.”

The subject’s name has not been revealed.
