Felix James Alonso, age 28, was arrested on drug charges after a stop for a traffic violation turned into a pursuit in Dodge City, Kans. on May 19.

At approximately 11:00 p.m. that evening,  Ford County Sheriff’s Office deputies stopped a black Ford Mustang, initially just for the traffic violation.

When deputies were speaking to Alonso, he suddenly sped away.

During the resulting pursuit, Alonso committed several other traffic violations.

The Mustang came to a rest near 7th Ave. and Wyatt Earp Blvd, after encountering successfully deployed stop sticks.

Alonso attempted to flee on foot and was apprehended by Sheriff’s office deputies and Dodge City police in front of the local Arby’s restaurant.

Alonso was arrested on charges including Possession of Methamphetamine, Possession of Marijuana, Fleeing and Eluding and Aggravated Assault.

“The case will be presented to the Ford County Attorney’s Office for review and final charging decisions,” said Ford County Sheriff Bill Carr.
