Garden Rapids at The Big Pool waterpark in Garden City, Kan. will be closed through August 1 as directed by the Finney County Health Department due to COVID-19 employee exposure.

The Finney County Health Department is doing a COVID-19 contact tracing protocol on many staff members. Garden City Parks and Recreation Director, Aaron Stewart has stated exposure was limited to employees, not patrons.

Stewart commented that Garden Rapids primary concern was the safety of their visitors.

“Following testing of employees and waiting the period of time advised by Finney County Health Department, we hope to reopen to the public for our final full week of the season beginning Monday, August 2,” said Garden Rapids on their Facebook page.

The closure includes all scheduled pool activities and rentals.

Questions regarding the closure can be directed to Aaron Stewart, Parks & Recreation Director, at 620-276-1200.
