Fishermen are invited to register for the Meade State Park 2021 Trout Derby fishing competition until March 20, the day of the competition.

After being forced to modify the Trout Derby as a virtual tournament last year due to the still ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the competition will take place in person.

Anyone ages 16 and older with a valid fishing license and trout permit can participate in the adult division, where they will be awarded prizes for the biggest fish and heaviest stringer.

Those ages 15 and under, participating by entering the youth division, will be awarded prizes for biggest fish, smallest fish, and heaviest stringer.

Pre-entry fees are priced for adults at $10 and $5 for youth. Those funds will go towards O.K. Kids Day and other park activities.

The competition will begin at 8 a.m. with final weigh in at 2 p.m.

A Kansas state fishing license and trout permit is required for all adult division participants, while all youth division participants must have a youth trout permit.

Permits and licenses may be purchased through the park office the day of the event.

All motorized vehicles must have a valid Kansas state park permit.

Interested anglers can pre-register now or request more information by visiting the Meade State Park office at 13051 V Road or by calling 620-873-2572.
