Gilberto Gallegos, 33, of Dodge City, died March 28 after suffering a fatal crash when he lost control of his motorcycle on a Ford County highway.

The Kansas Highway Patrol reported Gallegos was travelling northbound on U.S. 283 on his 2011 Harley Davidson FXD8 Street Bob when he attempted to pass another northbound vehicle.

Upon crossing the center line, he lost control of his motorcycle, laying it on the left side where he was then separated from the vehicle.

Gallegos was not wearing a helmet and was pronounced dead at the crash scene about seven miles south of U.S. 56, around 3:30 p.m.
