The American Red Cross are hosting a blood drive July 22 and July 23, at the Senior Center in Dodge City, Kans.
The American Red Cross is experiencing an ongoing critical blood shortage.
Western Plains Medical Complex in Dodge City even stated early this month they will be delaying some elective surgeries due to the blood shortage.
Crucial patient care at WPMC will be delayed until the blood supply stabilizes.
People are being encouraged to make appointments to donate to help revitalize the blood supply.
“The need for blood is constant and only volunteer donors can fulfill that need for patients in our community,” said the American Red Cross via email. “Nationwide, someone needs a unit of blood every two to three seconds and most of us will need blood in our lifetime.”
The blood drive will be held in the main room of the Senior Center located at 2408 Central Ave., from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. on July 22 and 7:45 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on July 23.
From there, you can schedule appointments, view your blood type and results of your mini-physical, and track your donations.
