The Kansas Highway Patrol (KHP) reported two adults and a child died, while a teenager was sent to a Wichita hospital as the result of a crash between two pickup trucks on May 30 in Saline County.

According to the KHP, around 1:30 p.m. Sunday, a northbound Chevy Silverado driven by 24-year old Christopher Lee Giroux of Salina, Kans. crossed the median and collided head-on with the southbound Dodge Ram truck driven by 39-year old Phillip Ray Hett near mile marker 82 on I-135.

Southbound lanes at exit 82 were closed for several hours during the initial incident.

Christopher Lee Giroux along with Phillip Hett and his 10-year old daughter Abigail Hett died in the crash.

Hett’s 13-year-old daughter Jillian Hett was transported to a Wichita hospital in critical condition.

KHP reopened the southbound lanes of I-135 shortly after 6 p.m.

What caused Giroux’s truck to cross the interstate is unclear and the accident is still under investigation.
